Social Ease And Connection, Part 14: Insight
Western civilization, culture, government and religion were built largely on the insights and teachings of two masters, Socrates and Christ, and on efforts to understand and live by these teachings of self-knowledge for self-mastery. Educated, ‘powerful’ people have also misused these teachings to control less educated, less powerful ‘subjects’. Over time, increasingly materialistic cultures dilute and discard these teachings. Then their institutions lose ground, and people move toward chaos.
Eastern and Middle Eastern civilizations, also based on masters and inner wisdom teachings, are also being eroded by materialism, by the frantic pace of modern lifestyles, and by neglect and pride. The answer isn’t to more forcefully impose old outdated teachings, but to embody the true substance and essence of what those original masters taught: self-responsible self-knowledge in the service of self-mastery. Get to know nature and human nature more deeply, and make that knowledge part of folk wisdom. Widely teach it by all possible means throughout our now global village and culture.
Discontent people sometimes use institutional power to treat those they’re hired to serve as less worthy than they are. When these people learn to act with only the power of their heart as their protection, they’ll treat others with care as equals.
Life made all of us equal. We are not the same, but we are equally worthy of respect. Re-discover and embrace, as an individual, the insights and teachings of the lit up masters who were the sexiest of all people to ever live. Commit yourself to your personal mastery of what these masters mastered. Without it, you head toward the destruction of nature, social groups, families, yourself and your future.
This also applies to banks, capitalist enterprises and governments, the global powers and dictatorships of our time. These all work perfectly if those in charge of them love all of life and nature, and commit themselves to protect, care for and assist ALL citizens of the world. When they do not love and serve all, they contribute to abuse and enslavement of the people who create their affluence.
Greed involves theft (confiscation) of nature’s and of life’s gifts, and getting more for your self by giving less and taking more from others. No matter whether you’re a slave or slave owner in this autarchy, you become highly sexy when you conquer the hold that banks and money have on your mind. A mind made up to serve life is sexy. True, that’s easier said than done. Everything is easier said than done, but anything is possible.
When you’re wise enough to use money and power to serve life, you can be trusted with a lot of money. As long as you’re discontent, money can be destructive in your hands. Until you feel fully present and content, your fellow citizens can trust you with only enough money to take care of your basic survival needs.
Bottom line: The state of being that you cultivate, as an individual, is either the sexiest and most important gift or the most dismal curse you bring to this planet. Never underestimate your power to cultivate sexy self-responsible presence. These take self-knowledge, courage and humility, which make you powerfully sexy.
